|Taking a Field Trip|
BY MADISYN TAYLOR
Sign your own permission slip to go on a field trip and renew your energy.
When we were children, few words were more exciting to hear than the phrase “field trip.” Field trips were a break from schoolwork and an opportunity to go on an adventure with friends. Now that we are grown ups, taking a field trip can be just as fun and memorable – if only we were willing to sign our own permission slips so we could go on one.
Allowing yourself to get stuck in your routine can make life seem boring. Adding a touch of variety to your life in the form of a field trip can break up the monotony of your days and lead you to adventure. Unlike the jaunts that were regulated by teachers or monitored by parents, taking a field trip as an adult can lead you anywhere you want. You can go on a daylong retreat or spend just a few hours at your destination. A field trip can be an opportunity to explore a new landscape or discover something about yourself. Taking a day trip to another town or visiting an unfamiliar spot in your neighborhood can be educational and fun. There is also much to be said for finding a beautiful spot under a tree where you can read a book. You can even go to one of your favorite spots and allow yourself to experience it as if you were visiting there for the first time. Going on a field trip is as much a state of mind as it is a change in the scenery.
During a “grown up” field trip, schedules, clocks, and duties are put aside so you can focus wholeheartedly on mindfully enjoying yourself. Planning a field trip can be almost as fun as going on one. A field trip is an excursion to look forward to and an experience to be savored after the fact. Wherever you decide to go and whatever you decide to do, going on a field trip can add much pleasure and excitement to your life.
Say Hi to my friend and fellow eAsSister, Natalie! This Georgia peach has a keen eye for Design as you’ll see in the pics featured in this post! Natalie was introduced into my life via the blessing that is eAssist Dental Solutions, where dental office professionals can apply to work from home. As soon as I saw Natalie’s interview and spoke with her over the phone it was a wrap I knew this chick was a superstar! Natalie and I have worked together for a few years now and we both bonded over planning our weddings and being 2017 brides ♥ To know her is to Love her.
What I did not know about Natalie was her eye for high design and her ability to manage a new dream home-build that she – wait for it- DESIGNED HERSELF! What?!What?!! You go GIRL!
You guys! When I saw her insta stories and her final pics I was sure she had to have hired Joanna Gaines from Fixer Upper. But nope!- no designer at all just designed with love from the hearts of these two love birds! Check this Chic Traditional Farm House out, it’s incredible!
Raise your hand if you think Natalie can give Joanna Gaines a run for her money? (hand raised) and should take her talent to the next level & design on the side?! I am so inspired by the wonderful people like these God has placed along my path and journey and I love to celebrate them. I feel so lucky to get to share in their accomplishments and joy! It’s fulfilling to see young people so in love literally building and living their dreams ♥ I am so excited for all the things to come for these two since they are all about family and they are both determined, driven, and talented. The sky is the limit you two! Check out this “so fetch” Kitchen and you cannot deny the talent that went into this charming custom built home… I can find no flaws! ◊ When I asked Natalie permission to write a little article featuring her home, I also asked her for a quote, this is what she had to say,
“About 2 years ago My husband and I bought 28 acres and decided to build our forever home. From meeting with an architect, clearing the land, and to move-in day, it took us a little over a year. It was a long journey with many ups and downs but in the end, it was so worth it. Good things take time and don’t come easily. We couldn’t be happier to call this place home and can’t wait to build our family here! Go Bulldogs-(it’s a Georgia College Football thing) <Hence the huge outdoor entertaining space!>”-Natalie J
KUDOS Natalie! Congratulations on your gorgeous new home and I wish you and your husband all the best. Many Blessings to you both and your amazing future ahead! Keep reaching for the stars and following your hearts, hopes, and dreams! I am so grateful to know people in this world like you & I thank you for your friendship ♥

“A Strong Woman Knows she has the Strength Enough for the Journey but a Woman of Strength Knows it is in the Journey Where she will Become Strong.” -unknown
Hey guys! Thanks for checking out my “safe space” where I get to express myself creatively and be vulnerable. I write my little bloggy blog posts as an outlet to relieve stress and to continue to be an influencer, no matter how small, that little voice of reason and positivity shining down on all of you soul sisters joining me here looking for guidance and inspiration- maybe even some direction. So what’s a WAHM, you ask? It’s a work-at-home-Mom. You may think you understand this term, but unless you ARE one, you have no idea! Most people (even my husband) are like so what you are at home all day “working” you can still parent, run all the errands, manage the household, babysit your friends kids and your friends of a friends kids and clean the house etc… NEWS FLASH!
– BEING A WAHM IS A FULLTIME JOB!-
Do we feel incredibly lucky we get to make a great wage/salary working from home and do we get that it’s incredibly rare? YES of course but do we battle turning off the computer and going to bed at night when there is still much that we could do? EVERY NIGHT! Do we struggle with Mom Guilt because we have to put our kids off until we finish our jobs without sacrificing excellence and quality because our own business and reputations are on the line? GOD YES! Do we stress over meeting important deadlines and have enormous requirements placed on us precisely BECAUSE we work from home and every day is a constant struggle to find that pot of gold beyond the rainbow called work/life balance? (what’s that?j/k) TOTALLY! Is it all rainbows and butterflies and roses working from home AND being a Mom AND failing miserably at being a Wife? No, it’s not but I have to say there’s pros and cons to every career and what I have and my fellow eAsSisters have is a pretty sweet gig! If you are a contractor, run your own business, consult from home, you also know the struggle is real. I am practicing being “Present over Perfect” (a book I am reading by Shauna Niequist) and trying to “put first things first”(Steven Covey). Because BURNOUT is real people. I had an extreme brush with Burnout in January and I have been trying to recover ever since. I had to take measures into my own hands and give myself a cut in pay and decrease my workload and sit back, wait, recover, re-purpose, re-group, and re-plan so I could turn a major set back into a major come back and BOY is that a great story! I can’t wait to tell that one. We’ve only scratched the surface so far. Stay Tuned for the Soap Opera that is my life. I have stories you wouldn’t believe are real life non-fiction. I haven’t even decided if I am going to get that vulnerable yet- maybe, but that is like some really deeply personal tumultuous crazy ish. Ah, why did I use my real name??? Anyway my journey is not one you would have wanted to walk beside me through but it did make me strong that is undeniable! Strong like my growth game. I will never stop growing, learning, becoming and stepping up my game by setting goals, smashing them, and setting bigger goals. No one can stop me, I won’t let them-I am in control of my own destiny. That last line took time. It took practice it took molding my mental health into mental strength. I had to let go of a lot of people who meant a whole hell of a lot to me and that I was dependent on (they were not healthy for me they were negative toxic life-sucking people)- I had to cut them completely out of my life and at times it’s been gut wrenching. Here’s a passage from the book Present over Perfect about leaving unhealthy things behind for you to mull over for a minute, “That’s how it is when you leave these things behind- busyness, exhaustion, co-dependence, compulsive anything- you can see the cracks and brokenness-es in your relationships for what they really are , and you realize that you can’t move forward the way you have been, that you either have to fix the cracks or let the connection break.-those are the only two honest ways” So do you repair the cracks or let go and let some cracks shatter? Only you can dig deep and ask your soul these questions, but listen deep because your gut never lies. Your intuition and your divine spirit will never steer you wrong. I challenge you to take a listen. If its time for you to make a change in your life don’t meet it with fear, don’t be afraid of failure. You can make your dreams come true and although opportunity and others are instrumental in ones great success you have to be careful that the people you have been depending on aren’t the ones actually holding you back or dimming your light. I will leave you with this, let the journey be what it is. Let it mold you let it make you strong like the water molding the walls of the Grand Canyon. Try to enjoy it, try not to look at things and label them as good or bad – everything is a stepping stone to bring you to greater and better things. Lessons can be blessings, doors closing can lead to amazing new opportunities that you never knew or maybe they did not even exist before. “When one door closes, another opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us.”-Alexander Graham Bell. If you are brave enough to actually say goodbye and let go life will reward you with a new hello. If you’ve been through the struggle, if you are still navigating your way through the darkness just keep growing strong, keep persevering, keep shining your light, being your authentic self, speaking your truth, stepping into your BRAVE and grow on sweetness, GROW ON & GLOW UP!
Have you ever set a goal you were extremely invested in and passionate about that you didn’t achieve? Me neither! Goal setting and thinking about what’s important to you in life- your dreams and goals is extremely important! As I mentioned in my intro (Journey Begins Today post(below)) I am a believer in Law of Attraction. Ever heard of “The Secret”? Even Jim Carey swears by good vibes and manifesting the desires of your heart. He tells a story in the movie “Jim & Andy The Great Beyond” on Netflix of a time before dumber and dumber, the Mask, Ace Ventura, all his hits, before his big break he wrote himself a 10 Million dollar check and put it in his wallet just as a far off *wish* for success one day. He had a teacher in the second grade that said he prayed to the Virgin Mary for whatever he wanted and promised something in return he always got it. That is how Jim Carey learned how to manifest his wants and dreams. He went home after his teacher told him his “secret” to getting what he wanted and he tested the theory out, he really wanted a mustang bike with a banana seat, he prayed for it and promised he’d say the rosary in return and low and behold not long after, it showed up in his living room. That 10 Million dollar check for acting services rendered came into fruition as well for Carey, he gave himself 3 years to accomplish that goal and he achieved it much sooner! Crazy right? What you focus on grows, what you bless in your life- in the moment- create more blessings to show up within your experience. Vision Boards work! In general it’s a tool to get you thinking and hopefully feeling about what you’d like to see come into your life and it doesn’t take extreme longing or concentration, that won’t work because you end up focusing on the lack of the thing you want. It’s kind of a nonchalant wish you put out into the universe as a passing thought or a prayer to your higher power and the vision board is great because you just look at it sporadically and without too much conscience effort you feel the feeling of having your desires in your life. Being raised Lutheran I was taught not to ask God for what you want, pray to express gratitude, pray for safety, pray for your family and that’s all good, nothing wrong with that teaching. Although, in my case, I have tried to change my thinking as of late because I realized there’s a difference in being open and honest with God about the desires of your heart, for me: a baby with my husband, vs. just asking greedily for material, superficial, worldly objects or things. Sure, it’s okay to ask for a home so you can feel safe and peaceful with your family vs. asking for a 40 room mansion on the beach. Not that I truly think anything is wrong with that either, hey, God is all powerful right “ask and you shall receive” so nothing’s wrong with asking. The universe has your back always but especially when you stay in the flow. If you’re experiencing a blockage of your energy and feeling low you will attract that which you are feeling. What I call the flow (learned from Katherine Eitel Belt Lioness Principles Leadership workshop) is that good feeling inside of constant gratitude, happiness, and focusing on the good. Next week I will share some good content on the Law of Attraction and some influential people within that realm. What is it that you want to manifest?
Thanks for joining me! A little info about me, I am totally ADD. Insane in the Membrane if you will.. eh, maybe not that bad off but when a totally random-bonkers-off-the-wall idea pops into my head all like- “hey you, yes you! you should totally make a blog since you love creating marketing content and writing and just being silly and you should just make it a candid theme since you are “candidlykristen” on all social media and just all around blatantly and brutally honest AND that’s pretty much the definition of candid…” and I said(to myself), “ya know what, crazykristen, that actually sounds like a fun project and I do love projects ((even though I have a gazillion and one other more important tasks to do)), you’re on, sister!” and so I jotted down a few ideas and scribbled an outline-stick figures-all that good ish and a few hours later here I am still pounding out ideas on my keyboard with one hand, wine in the other. ‘Cause I’m just a talented multi-tasker like that … Continue reading
